Hal brings to BMT over 18 years of media, new media, technology and other industry experience in the business, legal, investment and workout areas. He has managed asset purchases and sales, business development, strategic partnerships and JVs, broadcast property upgrades, technology development and exploitation, private equity/VC transactions, equity and debt financings and other business operations. Additionally, Hal has managed numerous company workouts and restructurings, on both the company and the investment side, including Chapter 11 and 7 proceedings, receiverships/trustees, DIP, chief restructuring officer and non-bankruptcy alternatives. Hal’s broad range of experience also includes media, FCC, content, IP, employment, transactional, contract, litigation and other business legal expertise as general counsel for companies and investors. In his current duties, Hal also serves as BMTllc’s General Counsel
Prior to BMT, Hal served as a senior executive and general counsel for media and new media, technology, business services and distribution companies. He founded a firm providing outsourced general counsel services to high growth companies, private equity groups and others throughout Texas and the US; he also was in the private practice of law for a top US and international law firm. Hal earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin; a J.D. from Southern Methodist University; and has completed the SMU Cox School of Business Management Development Program.
